Lunsford self-funds $2.5 million to keep pace
Posted: 07/14/08 07:20 PM [ET]

Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford (D) has contributed some $2.5 million of his own money to his campaign challenging Senate Minority Leader and four-term Sen. Mitch McConnell (R).

Lunsford’s campaign told The Associated Press that he raised $3.1 million in total during the second quarter and will have $1.3 million in cash on hand in Federal Election Commission filings this week.

The AP reports that McConnell’s campaign will report having raised $3 million during the second quarter. McConnell’s latest FEC filings, from April 30, showed his campaign as having $7.7 in cash on hand.
