Wicker tops Musgrove in second quarter
Posted: 07/16/08 06:49 PM [ET]

Sen. Roger Wicker (R) outraised his opponent, former Gov. Ronnie Musgrove (D), by about $200,000 in the second quarter in his race to hold onto his Senate seat this fall.

Wicker brought in roughly $1 million last quarter, and Musgrove raised over $810,000 between April and June this year. The gap is much smaller than in the first quarter, though, when Wicker brought in close to $2.5 million.

Wicker reported having just under $3 million in the bank at the end of June, while Musgrove had just under $720,000, giving Wicker a strong advantage.

Wicker was appointed last December to fill the seat of Sen. Trent Lott (R), who resigned.
