Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio): “I took my wife to Hay-on-Wye, Wales. She’s a journalist. It has more bookstores than any other town on earth. Sounds pretty nerdy, doesn’t it?”
Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.): “I do not know. That’s a tough question. Put me down as undecided.”
Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho): “I treated her [my wife] to a candlelight dinner last Saturday night.”
Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Ore.): “There’s just too many to pick from. I better keep it quiet.” [“Don’t think!” Sen. Craig calls to him from the Senate subway. “Just answer the first thing that comes to mind.”] “I better keep it quiet. I’m trying to think what I can possibly share [laughs].”
Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.): “That’s personal. I like doing things for my wife. Let’s leave it at that.”
Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.): [Laughs] “I can’t remember.”
Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.): “According to my wife, the most romantic thing I’ve done for her in a while is I did the dishes for her. She appreciated it more than flowers.”
Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.): “It’s probably a love letter and I think I don’t want to talk about it in public.” [When asked if he’s referring to his current wife, he laughs and replies, “For sure.”] |
