    Between Guantanamo Bay, the extraordinary rendition program, Abu Ghraib and water boarding, the Bush administration does not have the best track record on the issue of torture. However, the history of our great nation is built on fundamental individual values and rights that forbid such treatment. Any deviation from a strict ban on torture represents a black mark in our history.
    As we move closer to the presidential elections we have to examine the policies of the two presumptive presidential nominees in hopes that they represent a clear change of direction from the past 7 years. This paper seeks to illustrate their positions through their statements, votes and actions.
